Psytechnics Raises Venture Capital - Boston

Psytechnics, a Boston-based provider of voice, video and multimedia assessment for mobile, fixed and converged network service providers, announced that it has raised an undisclosed amount of funds in a new round of venture capital. Investors in the deal include 3i, GIMV, NIF, NVP and BT. The new funds bring the total of venture capital raised by Psytechnics to more than $20 million, the company said. Also on Monday, Psytechnics named Benjamin Ellis as its vice president of global marketing. Prior to joining Psytechnics, Ellis was at Juniper Networks, where he was director of strategic marketing and communications.

One to One Interactive has acquired AdTools - Charlestown, MA

One to One Interactive Inc. has acquired AdTools Inc., a developer of branded desktop applications. Company officials didn't reveal the financial terms of the deal.

AdTools' integrated BDA support services enable content management and delivery, database services, data collection, reporting capabilities and distribution tools. As a member of OTOLabs, AdTools will also assume control of Arcavista technologies and clients, officials said.

Radview Raises $1.5 Million in Private Placement - Burlington, MA

RadView Software, a Burlington-based provider of software for managing web-based business applications, has raised $1.5 million in a private placement of stock and convertible debt, led by Fortissimo Capital Fund. Under the agreement, the investors will also have the right to make additional investments of up to $2.25 million through early 2008. "The completion of the financing will help to restore confidence in the company's financial position and marks a significant turning point for the company," said Jaron Lotan, chairman of the board of RadView.

CircleLending, a Waltham-based manger of loans between individuals, has raised $8 million in its second round of venture capital, Private Equity Week reported on Tuesday, citing a regulatory filing. CircleLending launched its first product in 2001. The company said that its loan volume has been growing at over 25% per quarter, comprised of loans as small as $500 and as large as $500,000.

Egenera Raises $26 Million in Fifth Round - Marlboro, MA

Egenera, a Marlboro-based provider of datacenter virtualization technology, has raised $26 million in its fifth round of venture capital, led by Pharos Capital Group and Fujitsu Siemens Computer. Founded in 2000 by Vern Brownell, a former CTO of Goldman Sachs, Egenera offers products that simplify datacenter operations and infrastructure. The company said that its latest round of venture capital "was completed at a significantly increased valuation over Egenera's previous financing round." Egenera has raised a total of about $150 million in private funding since its founding.

IBM to acquire FileNet

IBM (NYSE: IBM) and FileNet Corporation (NASDAQ: FILE) today announced that the two companies have entered into a definitive agreement for IBM to acquire FileNet, a publicly held company based in Costa Mesa, Calif., in an all-cash transaction at a price of approximately $1.6 billion, or $35 per share. The acquisition is subject to FileNet shareholder approval, regulatory reviews and other customary closing conditions. It is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2006.

Mangrove Systems Raises $13.2 Million in Third Round - Wallingford, CT

Mangrove Systems, a Wallingford-based provider of platforms for wireless and wireline communication networks, has raised $13.2 million in its third round of venture capital, which is still open, a company spokeswoman said. Investors in the funding deal include Star Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, Columbia Capital and Highland Capital Partners. Mangrove's products combine packet and circuit-switched technology and are designed to support multiple services over any transport infrastructure. The company has raised a total of about $53 million to date.

SavaJe Technologies, the Chelmsford-based provider of an open standards-based, Java platform for mobile phones, has raised about $4.2 million in a "recap" of its first round of venture capital, Private Equity Week reported on Tuesday, citing a regulatory filing. Investors in SavaJe include RRE Ventures, Ridgewood Capital and Vodafone, the report said. SavaJe was founded in 1999. The company has raised a total of about $80 million to date.

Maven Networks Raises $12 Million in Third Round of Venture Capital - Cambridge, MA

Maven Networks, a Cambridge-based developer of broadband video delivery systems, has raised $12 million in its third round of venture capital, led by Prism Venture Partners, based in Westwood. Maven Networks' products allow media companies to create, manage and deliver broadband video channels that support direct-to-consumer services and generate new revenue streams. Its customers include 20th Century Fox, A&E Television Networks International, Disney Buena Vista Pictures, Hallmark Channel, National Geographic Channel, Pepsi, Nike, and Sony Pictures. Other investors in Maven's latest funding round include Palo Alto-based Accel Partners and General Catalyst Partners of Cambridge. The company has raised a total of $30 million to date.

MRO Software to be Acquired by IBM for $740 Million - Bedford, MA

MRO Software, a Bedford-based provider of business asset management software, has agreed to be acquired by information technology giant IBM for $740 million in cash. "In a recent IBM study, 40% of CEOs indicated that asset utilization would be a key focus in strengthening financial performance," said Al Zollar, general manager, IBM Tivoli software, commenting on the deal. "MRO software is a powerful addition to IBM's portfolio of software and services," he said. MRO has approximately 900 employees and more than 300,000 end users.

Matrix Partners, a Waltham-based venture capital firm, has raised $150 million for a new fund to be focused on investments with technology businesses in India. The fund was co-founded by Avnish Bajaj, a founder and former chairman and CEO of Baazee.com, an online marketplace that was acquired by eBay, and Rishi Navani, previously managing director of WestBridge Capital Partners. Among the business sectors on which the new fund will concentrate are Internet, mobile services, and media/entertainment, the firm announced. Matrix manages a total of about $2.5 billion in assets.
