GameLogic, a Waltham-based provider of Internet-based games for casinos, has raised $3 million of debt financing from Velocity Financial Group, a Wakefield, Mass.-based investment firm focused on technology, life sciences and clean energy companies. GameLogic uses Internet-based games to help casinos attract new players and interact with existing players while they are off property. The company was founded in 2002.

Salary.com to Acquire Genesys Software Systems - Waltham, MA

Salary.com, a Waltham-based developer of employee compensation and talent management software, has signed an agreement to acquire Genesys Software Systems, a privately held, Methuen, Mass.-based provider of human resource management systems (HRMS), benefits and payroll services. The deal was priced at about $6.8 million. Genesys currently services more than 1.6 million people throughout North America and had approximately $8 million in revenue for the 12 months ended June 30, 2008. The company was founded in 1981.

Bain Capital Ventures Seeking $500 Million for Fourth Fund - Boston, MA

Bain Capital Ventures, the venture capital arm of private equity firm Bain Capital, has begun raising its fourth investment fund, with a target of $500 million, VentureWire reported. Since 1984, Bain Capital has made over 126 venture-stage investments. In 2001, the firm formed Bain Capital Ventures as a separate arm to focus exclusively on early-stage deals. Bain Capital Ventures currently has close to $1 billion under management and is focused on investing in companies in the software, hardware, wireless, information-services, healthcare, technology-driven business services, retail, and consumer businesses.
