MocoSpace Raises $4 Million in First Round - Boston, MA

MocoSpace, the Boston-based provider of a wireless social networking service, has raised $3 million in its first round of venture capital, led by Cambridge-based General Catalyst Partners. MocoSpace allows users to find friends and stay connected through their wireless communication devices. The company called the funding "a reflection of the rapid growth of the mobile social networking market and the increase of mobile content users in the U.S., with more than 76 million mobile content subscribers in the U.S. alone and 6.7% of all Americans utilizing mobile chat or dating applications." The company also has offices in Israel.
