Watchfire to be acquired by IBM - Waltham, MA

Watchfire, a privately held security and compliance testing software company, said the deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2007. IBM (NYSE: IBM) said the Watchfire technology will extend IBM's governance and risk management strategy. Watchfire's product will be used with IBM Rational software to assist with web application security and compliance in the software development process. Watchfire has more than 800 customers, including several in financial services, government and technology, according to a statement released Wednesday.
