Sonicbids, a Boston-based online community for the music industry, has raised $4.5 million in a round of venture capital, led by Edison Venture Fund, according to a report in VentureWire on Monday. Founded in 2001, Sonicbids helps musicians and music promoters to network online, "without sending bulky press kits through the postal mail," the company says. Sonicbids' websites is used by 70,000 musicians and over 6,000 festivals, music conferences, and clubs from over 100 countries, according to the company.
