Gather.com Raises $10 Million from Hearst, McGraw-Hill, Pilot House - Boston, MA

Gather.com, the Boston-based operator of a social networking website, has raised $10 million in a round of venture capital led by Pilot House Ventures. Other investors in the deal include Hearst Corp., The McGraw-Hill Cos. Jack Connors, chairman of Hill Holliday and Gather.com CEO Tom Gerace. Gather.com targets "a highly educated, higher informed adult audience membership, a demographic elusive to most social networking sites," the company said.
