Top10 Media, a Cambridge-based provider of online networking services for publishing and retail applications, has raised $3.5 million in a round of venture capital led by Highland Capital Partners with participation from Schooner Capital and others. Founded last year, Top10 Media's service allows users to tap into blogs, podcasts, video, and mainstream news outlets on the web. The company recently acquired Blogniscient, a set of algorithms that automatically categorize and rank user-generated and other web-based content.

Intrusic Raises $8 Million in Second Round of VC - Burlington, MA

Intrusic, a Burlington-based provider of software that protects critical information from the malicious or careless activities of trusted insiders, has raised $8 million in its second round of venture capital, led by North Bridge Venture Partners. Other investors in the deal include DFJ New England and Draper Fisher Jurvetson. Intrusic was founded in 2002. The company raised $2.1 million in its first round of venture capital four years ago, led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson.

Mall Networks Completes Second Round of Funding - Lexington, MA

Mall Networks, a provider of online loyalty programs and e-commerce sites, announced that it has completed its second round of private equity funding. The Venture Capital Fund of New England (VCFNE) led the round with existing backers, IDG Ventures Boston and LBO Enterprises, increasing their initial investments. In conjunction with the investment, Carl Novotny, managing director at VCFNE has joined Mall Networks' board of directors. Founded in 2005, Mall Networks builds and manages "online malls" for partners such as professional sports teams, credit cards and banks, rewards programs, and membership organizations. The company's clients include the Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Dodgers, and NASCAR RacePoints.

Colubris Networks Raises $14 Million in Venture Capital - Waltham, MA

Colubris Networks, a developer of wireless switching systems, announced on Monday that it has raised $14 million in new funding. All current Colubris investors participated in the new round, including Prism VentureWorks, GrandBanks Capital, DCM - Doll Capital Management, Mid-Atlantic Venture Funds, The Telecommunications Development Fund and The Business Development Bank of Canada. Colubris has developed an "optimized WLAN switching system," which is infrastructure for delivering mobile voice, data and video applications.

InforSense Raises $10 Million in Venture Capital - Cambridge, MA

BrassRing to be Acquired for $115 Million - Waltham, MA

BrassRing, a privately held, Waltham-based provider of talent management software, has agreed to be acquired for $115 million by Kenexa, a Pennsylvania-based provider of software, services and content for employee recruitment and retention. BrassRing has about 180 customers, among them Time Warner, IKEA, ConAgra Foods, RR Donnelly, and Nissan Motor Co. BrassRing was founded in 1999.

CambridgeSoft Raises $2 Million in Second Round of Venture Capital - Cambridge, MA

CambridgeSoft, a provider of software for the life sciences industry, has raised $2 million in its second round of venture capital from Edison Venture Fund. The proceeds are being used by CambridgeSoft to repurchase stock from the company's founders. CambridgeSoft supplies desktop software, scientific databases and consulting services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and chemical industries.

Lendia Raises Venture Capital from 1848 Capital Partners - Marlborough, MA

Lendia, a Marlborough-based provider of technology outsourcing for residential mortgage companies, announced on Wednesday that it has raised an undisclosed amount of venture capital from 1848 Capital Partners, a Miami-based private equity firm. Lendia said that the funds will allow it to accelerate its expansion strategy and hire additional staff. Lendia began as a mortgage broker in 1999. The company, which until now has focused on the East Coast, said that it plans to increase its business by "more than 100% by the end of the year."

JumpTap raises $22M in new round of funding - Cambridge, MA
